Raising funds for SickKids one duck at a time

Today we kicked off our month-long Charity Duck Drive in support of the SickKids Foundation for our fourth consecutive year. We’re honoured to be able to support this world-class hospital that helps so many families and children each and every day.

This event is near and dear to our hearts. You’ll be hard-pressed to find someone who doesn’t have a connection to SickKids, whether through a family member, a friend, or a colleague. They’ve helped so many children and families (including my own), and to have this facility in Toronto is a blessing.

Last year, we helped raise over $83,000 for the hospital and we couldn’t be more thrilled. Over the years, through initiatives like the Charity Duck Drive, we’ve been able to donate more than $300,000 to SickKids to help make a difference for the hospital and the children who benefit from it.

This initiative helps kids like Lacey, our SickKids ambassador, who shared her story of how SickKids helped her fight and beat Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.

“Even though having cancer was very scary, everyone at SickKids cared for me and was super understanding. SickKids hospital was like a home away from home – a place to get treated and still just be a kid,” says Lacey.

Lacey is helping to raise funds for the hospital in honour of a friend of hers, who recently lost her battle with cancer. She hopes that these donations will help other kids have a positive outcome, like hers.

This year, everyone who purchases a duck from August 1 – 30 through our Charity Duck Drive, either at the park or online, will have a chance to win the Grand Prize of a 3-year lease on a 2018 Mazda CX-5, generously donated by Maple Mazda and the Maple Auto Mall, or the Second Prize of five 2019 Canada’s Wonderland Season Passes.

At Canada’s Wonderland, we love seeing smiles on kids’ faces and we hope with the money we raise, we can help a few more kids smile when they receive the exceptional care that the Hospital for Sick Children provides.

So remember, when you purchase a duck and toss it into the Royal Fountain, not only will you have a chance to win a great prize, but you’ll be helping to make a difference in the lives of kids who really need it.

Halloween Haunt is an epic scream

I love Halloween. A day of costumes, candy, and creepiness. It is a fun time to bring children together to visit the generous homes in their local neighbourhoods, as well as a fun time for adults to get creative with masquerade balls aplenty.
