Stuck at home with the kids and scrambling for things to do? We thought we’d help out and offer some amusement park FUN to help keep your family entertained at home. Here’s a list of Canada’s Wonderland-related things to do with kids. If you try any, share on social and tag us so we can see how it turned out!

Create your very own amusement park

Bust out the LEGO, building blocks, K’NEX, Magna-tiles or whatever materials you have on hand to construct your kid’s dream amusement park! Flatten some large cardboard and draw pathways for guests in between their imaginative rides.

Need some inspiration for rides and water park slides? Here's the list of all our attractions to get the juices flowing.

Have a look at the great work these kids did!

Draw your own amusement park map

If you don’t want to take up your entire living room space with a whole amusement park, have your kids draw or paint their dream park on paper. Maps are like mazes, and give a promise of adventure. Probing questions can help children plan their park:

  • What kind of rides are there?
  • Does it have a water park?
  • What kind food would people eat? Are there restaurants?
  • What’s the setting for the park? In the mountains, on the ocean, in a forest, etc?
  • Who would go? Is this for grown-ups or just for kids?
  • Are there fun characters to meet in this park?
  • How do people get there? By car, train, boat or airplane? Maybe they need a place to park these modes of transportation.
  • Is it a park that’s open in all seasons? Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter?

Kids can draw their own Canada's Wonderland amusement park maps

Let their imaginations run wild creating their very own amusement park and map!

Create your own ride

If tackling a whole park is a bit much, have kids focus on creating one ride. They can draw, paint or build! Every year Canada’s Wonderland hosts the Wondercoaster Building Contest and we’ve seen some pretty inspiring creations! Let them have fun with themes and names.

Some household items you can use for your rides:

  • Marbles for the coaster cars
  • Cardboard rolls
  • Chenille sticks
  • Elastics
  • Popsicle sticks
  • Painters or masking tape
  • Plastic/paper cups, recycled containers
  • Corks
  • Straws
  • Paper plates
  • String
  • Marshmallows and toothpicks
  • Tissue boxes
  • Tin foil

Kids can create their own roller coasters

Have kids focus on creating one really awesome ride with their own customized theme and name!

Entries in the Wondercoaster Challenge - Kids at home can do this too!

Building a roller coaster is a great family project, easily done with everyday household items!

Do some colouring!

Here are some free colouring pages of the PEANUTS Gang, plus some of the park’s iconic places. Click to download printable colouring sheets.

Take a ride on a roller coaster

You may not be able to ride any coasters in park at the moment, but why let that stop you from having some fun? Our Canada’s Wonderland Youtube page has 16 roller coaster POV videos (“Point-of-View” as if you were sitting in the front seat). If you have internet access or the Youtube App on your TV, play a few and have the kids pretend they’re going for a real ride!

Check out those videos here and pick your favourites!

If you try any of these fun activities, don’t forget to share your masterpieces on social and tag us! We want to see ‘em! We’ll share some of the wonderful creations we see out there.
