Canada’s Wonderland is one of the most popular destinations in Ontario, attracting tourists from all over. While we are known to have over 200 rides here are the top 10 facts about Wonderland that we bet you didn’t know.

  1. Wonder Mountain is essentially the park’s air conditioning
All of our major buildings are cooled by a chilled water loop that originates at Wonder Mountain. The cold water travels over the falls and then circulates underground to each of our buildings including Canterbury Theatre, Marketplace, and the arcades) cooling each of these buildings down. Approximately 30,000 gallons of water flows over the mountain every minute. Now that’s COOL!

  2. Canada’s Wonderland sends zero waste to landfill
All food produced by the park is composted, and recycling containers are found throughout the park’s pathways which collect cans, bottles, plastics and pizza boxes. We also recycle building and operating materials this includes metal, concrete, wood, lighting, cooking oils and solvents. These items are collected and then sent to the appropriate recycler. Any other solid, non-hazardous waste is taken to a thermal treatment facility where it’s converted to electricity and steam for use in the community.

  3. Our Pizza Pizza location sells the most pizza slices in Ontario
International Street’s Pizza Pizza sells more pizza slices than any other Pizza Pizza location in Ontario.  If you stacked all of the 135,957 whole pizzas sold in the park in 2017 you could equal the height of Skyhawk by 66 times. Pizza anyone?

  4. It takes 2 million gallons of water to fill Splash Works
All the water needed to fill the attractions in our 20-acre water park could fill over 154,567,128 water bottles.

  5. Nearly half a million stuffed toys are won at the Park each season
Winner, winner that’s a lot of chicken dinners!

  6. The train on The Bat was originally on Dragon Fyre
Dragon Fyre was originally built to operate with three trains. During testing it was discovered that it only allowed 22 seconds to unload/load each train. The third train was eventually modified and used on The Bat.

  7. We’ve provided more than 853 million rides since 1981
That’s the total number of rides given on all rides that have ever existed in the park (excluding Splash Works).

  8. More than 120,000 foot-long hot dogs are consumed in a season
That’s about as long as 23 Behemoth roller coasters!

  9. Each fireworks display features more than 6,000 explosions
Our Victoria Day, Canada Day, Civic Holiday and Labour Day Weekend firework celebrations are massive, with fireworks hitting heights of over 600 feet (183m).

  10. Canada’s Wonderland has the third most roller coasters among all amusement parks in the world.
Can you name all of our coasters?
